Chair YogaI love the flexibility of yoga - when I wrecked the ligaments in my knee skiing several years ago, my initial, personal practice was done lying down with lots of breathwork and visualisation. I taught my classes from a chair, exploring ways to get myself up and down from the floor and I observed how well my body responded.
Since then I have used what I learned to share yoga with a range of people with balance challenges, injuries, pain or who have been undergoing medical treatment. one-to-one

Yoga for Kids & TeensI love sharing yoga, breathwork, meditation and sound with young people and am happy to run workshops or a programme of classes for your group or in your school.
Sessions for children are fun, often themed with a storyline and supported with props. Sessions for young people can be varied depending on the focus you wish - again, they can be themed or have a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing to enable young people to cope with exam stress. I previously taught kayaking and canoeing to children for over 20 years and have experience of teaching folks from all backgrounds, abilities and learning types. An equinox is a time of year when the light and dark are equal - with the spring (vernal) equinox on the 20th March, the wheel of the year invites us to emerge from winter darkness and into the lengthening days. You are invited to celebrate this turning of the seasons and join Suse and Diane in circle at the gorgeous Portavadie Spa, Loch Fyne for a day of nurturing movement, breathwork, sound and relaxation.
How do we know it is dark if there is no light - how do we know it is light if there is no shadow. Without movement in the light, how do we know there is anything there?
In the morning, Suse will be sharing various kinds of energy movement, finishing with a 5 element dance qigong (qi=energy plus gong=work) routine enabling us to explore the very edges of our being and observe the difference between the internal and external, the seen and the unseen.
In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to practice some Dru Yoga with Diane, honouring the elements, bringing us into balance and harmony - enabling us to draw on the fresh rising energy of nature before resting in stillness to be bathed in sound and cleansed through the vibration of the beautiful sacred notes of sound pipes, chime bars, native American style flutes and other magical sounds.
Everyone is welcome and no prior experience of Qigong or Yoga is required.
We meet at 10.30am for a welcome cuppa, sort out lunch menus, book the leisure facilities for later and land and settle before opening our circle space at 11am.
Lunch is optional - we have a table booked in the restaurant for those who wish to join us there - please note lunch is not included in the retreat price.
We close our circle at 3.45pm for those wishing to make use of the infinity pool and leisure facilities (again please note the cost for this is not included in the price of the retreat)

Craignish Village Hall, Ardfern 10.30am-4pm In this workshop we will explore working with sound pipes - they are a fantastic addition to our classes and teaching spaces.
Being very transportable they enable us to bring sound to our work. In the Cosmic Octave Chakra set, the heart frequency is 136.10Hz - the OM. During the day we will practice some gentle movement, relaxation and guided meditation ; learn about the frequencies of the chakras and experience a sound journey. The workshop includes an OM / heart chakra sound pipe More details to follow |
Buttafly solutions
13 & 14 April Tonik Studio, Glenrothes I'm deeply honoured to have been invited by Loulou James, creator of the Buttafly to support her at a couple of day workshops and I'll be teaching on the second day
The Buttafly Technique for Deep Rest 13 April : 10am - 5pm This day retreat offers you a time of gentle exploration, rest and an opportunity for a reset of mind, body and soul. While the Buttafly Effect can be experienced with a single half-hour practice, there’s great potency in taking longer to develop the practice and fully surrendering to the process of integration and transformation. The Buttafly Technique lends itself to bringing in other tools that engage the subtle anatomy. Loulou will draw on Pranayama and Yoga Nidra to help you engage with the wisdom in your body; let your spine release naturally, and experience your innate intelligence as it cascades through the continuum of your myofascia, nervous and craniosacral systems. Everyone’s experience is, of course, unique. Will your posture change? Will your back pain ease? Will you feel grounded, better balanced, spacious or simply more at home in your body? Treat Yourself with the Buttafly! 14 April : 9.30am - 5.30pm Do you have stiff shoulders, dodgy knees or painful hips that prevent you from getting the most out of your movement practices? Whether your preferred routine is yoga, Pilates, home exercises or a gym programme, come and explore how the Buttafly can be used for remedial and curative gain. Worry less that the advice from your doctor isn’t helping and quit fretting about the lengthy waiting times to see a physio… Instead, discover ways to treat yourself that don’t include eating chocolate or taking pills! Jokes aside, let’s get serious about giving you more control over your symptoms than you could ever imagine, and a renewed sense of hope for the future. |

Yoga is for Everyone
Yoga is for me a way of life, it is not just about the postures or how I look - its about showing up, experimenting with how my body works in this moment, how I feel, what arises for me through my practice, how can I apply the philosophy? It's an opportunity to continuously learn and share and connect.
There are so many ways to connect with yoga and dru yoga can be very therapeutic, working with visualisation where the physical feels impossible or impracticable; finding different ways to reach the same outcomes; exploring all the different aspects of yoga - the postures, breath work, stillness, meditation, connection, relaxation, our energy and the philosophy.
Shakti dance (the yoga of dance) for me brings freedom to my life, I have discovered the power of mantra, the courage it takes to stand up, show up and be present, the stories, myths and legends we can infuse in to our practise. It feels expansive and releasing.
I believe yoga is for everyone - whether you have never tried it, think it's weird or have a longstanding practice (in any yoga tradition) you are welcome to come to class. If you are nervous or unsure or your body hurts too much to try - please get in touch and we can chat through how yoga might be of benefit to you.
Being a bit of a nomad, I run classes and workshops across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Regular blocks of weekly classes are held in Craignish Village Hall, Ardfern and I work collaboratively with others to run retreats and workshops.
